Couriers Dallas – Rainin’ Cats & Dogs!

Courier Companies DallasMy, oh my! Hello, much-needed rain!

This week in Dallas was refreshing to say the least. We needed the rain. While many counties are still in heavy duty water restrictions, the recent rain storms definitely helped the cause in getting our state back on track with H2O.

As 24 hour couriers in Dallas, when you get woken up at 1:30 in the morning by rain pelting your bedroom window, it is likely that our couriers are out and about making DFW deliveries. That means we can be some of the first to know when it starts raining. And we are preemptive in our knowledge, too. Before heading out for night deliveries, our couriers check the weather to see what’s in store.

So, we weren’t surprised this week when the rains came a pouring. It was in the forecast! What did surprise us was the sheer amount of flooding that came with the rain. The photo above was taken this morning (a few days after the onslaught), and you can you see the parking lot in front of Eagle Express’ home office still has standing water. Pretty wild!

From power outages to wrecks, rain can be a welcomed disaster (especially when it’s been forever since we have had a lot of it). So, in honor of our 24 hour couriers Dallas, I figured it was high time I write a blog on rainy day and night tips. Not just with driving, but with life in general. So, check it out:

  • Rain Footwear. High heels on a day with high chances of puddles are a bad idea. So are flip flops. Choose rainy day footwear that has good traction and if possible, is waterproof.
  • Don’t rush. Even if you wear the right shoes, slips and falls can happen. That’s why you should never rush in the rain. Plan ahead so you have time to be extra careful. Just imagine if our medical deliveries Dallas team rushed – you might have specimens flying every which way. And that would not be good at all.
  • Avoid Puddles. So you think it is just a shallow puddle? Think again. Water is often deeper and more powerful than we think. Take the driest route you can – and that includes in your car. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH RUSHING WATER. People often think they can make it in their cars only to be swept away.
  • Mats. This seems simple, but you will notice that many homes and office buildings don’t have entry mats. If you have a home or an office, be sure you provide you family and/or employees with adequate safety measures.

Rain, rain, don’t go away! Lake Lavon is still 8 feet below its needed water line. But let’s all just remember to be safe and smart when it’ raining cats and dogs. MEOWW.
